How to make an app for your small business

How to make an app for your small business without hiring a developer: pick one job it does, describe it to an AI app builder, connect your tools and publish.

Making an app for your small business starts with one job the app does better than a phone call, a spreadsheet or a paper form: taking bookings, checking members in, sending invoices. With an AI app builder you describe that job in plain words, and the app is built, hosted and changed without hiring a developer.

What kind of app does your business need?

Most small-business apps are one of a handful of shapes. Find yours, then start from the worked build.

Web app or mobile app?

Start with a web app unless there is a reason not to. Customers open a link without installing anything, it works on every phone and computer, and it is free to publish. Choose a mobile app when your staff use it all day on the move (deliveries, inspections) or customers open it every week (a gym, a loyalty card). Vibely builds both, and a web app and a mobile app can share one database.

How to make the app, step by step

1. Write down the one job

One sentence: who uses it, what they do, and what happens next. "Clients book a 45-minute appointment, and I get an email with the booking."

2. Describe it to an AI app builder

Open Vibely and describe the app the way you would to a new employee:

A booking app for my hair salon. Clients choose a service (cut, colour, blow-dry), a stylist and a free 45-minute slot, then enter their name and phone number. I see each day's bookings and can block out holidays. Warm, simple design that works on a phone.

If you would rather review the screens before anything is built, switch to Plan mode and approve the plan first.

3. Give it a database

Bookings, customers and invoices have to be stored somewhere safe. Vibely connects a Supabase project you own and writes the tables and the row-level security rules that decide who can read each record. The Supabase integration comes with Lite at $10 a month.

4. Connect the tools you already use

Connect a service with your own credentials and the app can use it: Stripe to take payments, Google Calendar or Calendly for availability, Resend for confirmation emails, Twilio or WhatsApp for reminders, Google Sheets for the numbers you already keep, and Shopify if you sell online. Every one is listed on the connectors page.

5. Test it with three real customers

Send the preview link to three regulars and watch them use it. Fix what confuses them by describing the change, or point at the part of the screen in the preview.

6. Publish it

Publish to a free vibelyagent.com address in one click, or on your own domain from Lite. Mobile apps go to TestFlight and Google Play internal testing from Lite; you submit them from your own developer accounts.

How much does it cost to make an app for a small business?

A developer or an agency usually quotes per project, and the quote grows with every screen. With an AI app builder you pay for the building as you go:

  • Free: $0 with 5 credits a month and no credit card. Build web and mobile apps and publish web apps to a vibelyagent.com address.
  • Lite: $10 a month with 40 credits, a custom domain, the database and sign-in, and App Store and Google Play publishing.
  • Pro: from $25 a month for more credits and a team.
  • Store fees if you publish a phone app: Apple’s fee is $99 a year and Google’s $25 once, paid to them.

Credits pay for the AI's work. Hosting and publishing use none, so the app stays up even if you stop building. See pricing for the details.

Keeping customer data safe

Your customers' names and phone numbers live in your own Supabase project, not in Vibely. A basic security scan runs every time you publish and a deep scan checks your dependencies and row-level security, both free on every plan. See security scans.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make an app for my business for free?

You can start on the Free plan, which builds web apps and publishes them to a vibelyagent.com address. An app that stores bookings or customer details needs the database, which starts on Lite.

Do I need a website or an app?

If people only need to find you, a website is enough; the AI website builder makes one. If they need to do something, such as book, pay or check in, you need an app, and it can live on your website's domain.

What if I outgrow it?

The app is ordinary React and TypeScript. Download the code on every plan or sync it with your own GitHub repository from Lite, and a developer can carry on from there.

Next step: open the booking system build, or describe your own app in Vibely.
